I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with today’s streaming debut of the Telugu film The Girlfriend and with five Yash Raj Films titles added to celebrate Ranveer Singh’s 15th anniversary as an actor:

Fun fact: I watched Befikre in 2016 intending to review it, but I immediately forgot both my intention to review it and everything that happened in the movie. That never happens, so do with that info what you will.

I’m still obsessively checking Netflix to determine the schedule for the YRF “Holiday Season” event that runs from December 11-27/12-28 (depending on your country). I’m excited that Titli and Qaidi Band are part of the lineup, as they haven’t been included in the YRF streaming catalog in the past. If we get Roadside Romeo as part of this, I’m going to freak out. Here’s what we know so far:

December 12 – Bewakoofiyaan & Mere Dad Ki Maruthi
December 13 – Bank Chor & Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!
December 15 – Sui Dhaaga: Made in India
December 16 – Daawat-e-Ishq & Mere Brother Ki Dulhan
December 17 – Qaidi Band & Titli
December 18 – Aurangzeb & Thugs of Hindostan
December 23 – Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year (per CinemaRare)
December 24 – Bunty Aur Babli (per CinemaRare)

The new Netflix Original Tamil movie Stephen releases on Friday.

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Hulu with the additions of the Malayalam movie Diés Iraé and the Bengali series Milon Hobe Kotodine.

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with a bunch of new additions. Besides the premiere of Season 3 of Delhi Crime, the 2025 films added today include: Dude (Tamil), Jolly LLB 3 (Hindi), and Telusu Kada (Telugu). Other additions include a handful of Classic Yash Raj Films titles:

Earlier this week, it was reported that Jolly LLB 3 will stream concurrently on Netflix and JioHotstar. I suspect that only applies to India, as there is no sign of Jolly LLB 3 on Hulu in the United States. I did update my list of Bollywood movies on Hulu with the streaming debut of the Malayalam film Avihitham (also available in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu).

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with the streaming debut of director Anurag Kashyap’s Hindi film Nishaanchi— AND the world premiere of Nishaanchi 2! They just skipped theaters and dropped the sequel with no prior notice!

Update on My Hulu Streaming Page Audit

Four months ago, I posted that a large number of Hindi movies had disappeared from Hulu. I’m not exactly sure when it happened, but it was likely after Disney and Reliance announced their merger in late 2024. Since that February post, I’ve clicked on all of the approximately 2,000 links I had on my Bollywood Movies Streaming on Hulu page at the start of 2025 to see which are still active.

After removing all the inactive links, my Hulu page is less the half the size it previously was. Approximately 800 titles remain (with a couple of caveats I’ll get to in a bit). Most of the loses were within Hulu’s Indian movie collection. As it stands, there are 53 films in the Hindi/Desi section, 4 Bengali movies, 17 Kannada films, 19 Malayalam movies, 13 Marathi films, 20 Tamil movies, and 22 Telugu films. I removed over 1,000 movies from the page.

Admittedly, I’m probably missing some titles. I look for movies and series myself, getting updates from various news sources and even checking the “You May Also Like” recommendations under individual titles. None of what I do is automated.

Besides that acknowledgment, there are two big caveats. While some movies and series have disappeared outright and don’t return a result when you search Hulu’s catalog for them, other catalog entries remain with the option to watch the trailer. Gaslight is an example, though there are other films and series to which this applies. Disney’s plans for Hulu are still in flux, and that goes double for the “Hotstar” Indian content it hosts. I’m keeping these “trailer only” links in the page for now since I’m not certain that they’re gone for good.

The other caveat is that the 800 or so remaining titles are not all unique properties. Thanks to dubbing, a lot of titles repeat within the catalog. Hulu/JioHotstar presents almost all of their original “Hotstar Specials” programming — which includes around 70 series — in seven languages (the original plus six dubs). That means that fewer than half of the 800 links on the page represent unique titles.

While I give credit to Hulu/JioHotstar for adding new, original Indian shows on an almost weekly basis, it’s a huge shame to lose so much of its movie collection. A lot of these back catalog titles aren’t streaming anywhere else right now. They’re just gone, and I’m not sure they’ll be back once Disney figures out how it wants to organize its various streaming entities.

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with yesterday’s timely addition of 2007’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa (which I enjoyed). It joins Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 for streaming, in case you want to catch up on the franchise before heading to the theater for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 this weekend.

If those films have you in a spooky mood, I wrote about all the Indian Original horror movies and series on Netflix for What’s on Netflix (with a bonus list of all the licensed Indian horror films currently streaming).

And if that still isn’t enough scary content for you, I appeared on the “Bollywood Horror Top 13” episode of the Bollywood Drafts podcast. Josh Hurtado, Erin Fraser, Matt Bowes, and I had a spirited discussion about the best Hindi horror flicks, but ultimately I got to choose the movie that ranked #1.

Back over at What’s on Netflix, I also posted a mega roundup of all the new Indian content added to Netflix in September and October.

There are a number of Indian films expiring from Netflix in November:

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with yesterday’s addition of the Tamil film Black.

Finally, I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Hulu with the addition of the Tamil film Lubber Pandhu (also available dubbed in Hindi and Malayalam).

Things will be busy on the streamers next week, with the following debuts scheduled:

November 7: The Buckingham Murders on Netflix
November 8: ARM (Malayalam) on Hulu; Vettaiyan (Tamil) on Prime; Vijay 69 on Netflix

Happy Diwali! — Kathy

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with today’s world premiere of the Hindi film Sharmajee Ki Beti, starring Divya Dutta and Saiyami Kher.

Today’s other world premiere Hindi film is Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Rauta Ka Raaz, streaming now on Zee5.

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Hulu with today’s addition of the Hindi-dubbed version of the Malayalam film Aavesham. 2014’s Total Siyapaa is also now streaming. It’s not that great.

Finally, I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with the addition of the Telugu film Bhaje Vaayu Vegam. I also wrote a preview of Wild Wild Punjab for What’s on Netflix ahead of the film’s July 10 release.

If you’re looking for a fun podcast to listen to this weekend, I was recently a guest on the Bollywood Drafts Podcast. The premise of the podcast is to take a collection of films and rank them in reverse order from 13 to 1 to find the best movie of the bunch. Past topics include the films of Shah Rukh Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. For our episode, four of us — me, Shah Shahid, Nim Kaur, and Erin Fraser — ranked the movies that have won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress in the 21st Century. My unorthodox playing style may have driven host Manish Mathur a little crazy. Please give it a listen here. It was a blast to record!

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with today’s additions of the Telugu version of Adipurush (Hindi is not one of the additional dialogue options in the audio menu — the Hindi version of Adipurush is streaming on Netflix) and the Tamil film Maaveeran. A Hindi dub of Maaveeran is also available as well as a Telugu version under the title Mahaveerudu. Earlier this week, Amazon released Season 2 of the Hindi series Made in Heaven and launched the trailer for the series AP Dhillon: First of a Kind, which comes out August 18:

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Hulu with today’s premiere of the action series Commando, which is based on the excellent Vidyut Jammwal movie of the same name but does not star Jammwal. It’s available in Hindi along with dubbed versions in Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu.
