I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with dozens of Indian films added in the last week. Notable additions in the last day include Sanjay Dutt’s September theatrical release Prassthanam and the Amazon original series One Mic Stand, in which celebrities like Taapsee Pannu and Richa Chadha are coached in the art of standup comedy. Other recently added 2019 releases include:

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with the additions of the Telugu film Guna 369, the Naseeruddin Shah-narrated nature documentary SunGanges, and the Netflix original comedy House Arrest, starring Ali Fazal and Jim Sarbh.

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with the addition of dozens of Indian films added in the last week. Two Hindi releases from this year — Section 375 and Gone Kesh — just became available for streaming today. Other recently added 2019 releases include:

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix because the following titles are set to expire on November 15: Fireflies in the Abyss, M Cream, O21, and Shukranallah. Season 3 of the Hindi series Little Things will be available starting November 9.

Streaming Video News: November 1, 2019

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with the worldwide premiere of the Hindi heist film Drive, starring Jacqueline Fernandez and Sushant Singh Rajput. Producer Karan Johar wasn’t confident enough to release this trash fire (my review’s in progress) into theaters, so he sent it to Netflix as part of his content creation deal with the streaming service. The 2019 Tamil film Mehandi Circus was also added to Netflix recently, even though it’s been available on Amazon Prime since May (disclaimer: all my Amazon links contain an affiliate code that may earn me a commission on purchases made via the links).

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with dozens of movies added in the last few days, including the following 2019 releases:

In other Amazon news, it looks like the Malayalam film Jallikattu joins Prime on November 3, even though it just released in North American theaters yesterday.

If you just can’t get enough Sushant Singh Rajput this weekend, Chhichhore is now available on Hotstar.

Streaming Video News: October 28, 2019

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with dozens of Indian and Pakistani films added in the last week or so. The September theatrical release Pailwaan is available in its original Kannada, along with Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu versions. (Disclosure: my Amazon links include an affiliate tag that may earn me a commission on purchases made via the links.) The Malayalam movie Ittymaani: Made in China is also now available, in both standard and 4K, as is the 4K Kannada version of Saaho. Other recently added 2019 releases include:

The Vishesh Films and Dharma Productions back catalogs have departed Prime, but some titles — including Kapoor & Sons — are still available for rent. Others like Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham… moved to Eros Now.

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with the addition of the interview special My Next Guest with David Letterman and Shah Rukh Khan. A handful of titles are set to expire in the first few days of November, including the Hindi films Mirror Game: Ab Khel Shuru and Sameer.

Streaming Video News: October 18, 2019

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with the streaming debut of Saaho. It’s not available in Hindi — that version is headed to Netflix in November — but it is available in Kannada, Malayalam (standard and 4K UHD), Tamil (standard and 4K UHD), and Telugu (standard and 4K UHD).* Dozens of other Indian movies have been added in the last week, including the new Vir Das travel series Jestination Unknown and the following 2019 releases:

Make sure to scroll down the Prime page past the new additions to the Expiring Soon section, because I found many more films set to leave Prime by the end of the month since posting this list of 60 or so expiring titles.

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with the addition of the Netflix original Hindi film Upstarts. I added the Australian series The Unlisted to the list as well. It’s about a pair of Desi twins, and the first episode takes place during their family’s Diwali celebrations. Timely!

Streaming Video News: October 4, 2019

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with one documentary — Limitless — and four Hindi-language TV shows added on October 1st: College Romance, Engineering Girls, Girls Hostel, and Inmates.

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with dozens of Indian films added in the last week, including the Pakistani TV shows Hiddat and Noor Jahan and the following 2019 releases:

October got off to a slow start on these two streaming video services, and there’s little on the horizon for the rest of the month. According to Bollywood Buff, Batla House comes to Prime in India on October 11, although that date may not apply to the United States and Canada. The only new Hindi release on the docket for Netflix is their straight-to-streaming film Upstarts, starring Bhavesh Joshi Superhero‘s Priyanshu Painyuli. Upstarts debuts on Netflix October 18.

Streaming Video News: September 27, 2019

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with four 2019 titles added in the last week, including the new Netflix original series Bard of Blood, starring Emraan Hashmi. Also new are the Hindi film Malaal, the Telugu sequel Manmadhudu 2, and the Malayalam and Tamil versions of Oh! Baby (the Telugu version was added last week).

Sixteen Indian movies are set to expire from Netflix on October 1 — mostly Malayalam titles, but the service’s lone Manipuri film, Loktak Lairembee, is on its way out as well. The full list of expiring titles is available here.

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with more than forty Indian titles added since my last streaming video update. One of those new films is Sonakshi Sinha’s August comedy Khadaani Shafakhana, which contains homophobic slurs. Other recently added 2019 releases include:

The Yash Raj Films exodus from Prime is underway, with ten titles leaving on September 29 and dozens more following on September 30. Click here, then scroll down to the “Expiring Soon” section for the full list of movies on the way out.

Streaming Video News: September 19, 2019

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with dozens of new additions in recent days. The highest profile newcomer is the Amazon Original Hindi series The Family Man, starring Manoj Bajpayee as a spy struggling to balance his work and family life. Amazon is so confident of the series’ international breakout potential that they had the cast record an English dub of the dialogue as well. It’s also available in 4K Ultra HD in both Hindi and English. Other 2019 releases just added include:

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with the addition of Kabir Singh. The 2016 horror film 1920 London is poised to expire on September 24.

Streaming Video News: September 13, 2019

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with more than two dozen Indian films added in the last week, including the following 2019 releases:

In other big Amazon Prime news, looks like we have confirmation that the Yash Raj Films catalog really is leaving Prime, with a handful of movies departing in the next two weeks. Kabhi Kabhie, Salaam Namaste, and Vijay all expire on September 25, followed by Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year on September 27. I’ll post expiration dates as they appear. In the meantime, if you’d like to prioritize watching YRF movies on Prime before they migrate to their new home (probably Hotstar), here’s a Wikipedia list of YRF releases.

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix because a bunch of Indian movies are set to expire on September 15:

Kabir Singh comes to Netflix in India on September 19, but I haven’t seen confirmation of its US availability yet, so stay tuned. In other Netflix news, Karan Johar signed a multi-year contract to produce fiction and non-fiction content exclusively for the streaming service.

Streaming Video News: September 6, 2019

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with the addition of the excellent 2019 thriller Article 15. Based on my experience, it’s a good movie to recommend to people who don’t normally watch Hindi films. Other recent additions include the 2019 Tamil release Watchman and the 2018 Telugu movies C/o Kancharapalem and Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi.

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with almost two dozen Indian and Pakistani films added in the last week, including these 2019 releases:

In other streaming video news, Super 30 comes to Hotstar on September 10.
