Streaming Video News: November 5, 2018

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with the addition of the 2018 Marathi movie Bucket List, starring Madhuri Dixit as a heart transplant recipient who tries to complete her young donor’s bucket list. For everything else new on Netflix, check Instant Watcher.

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime over the weekend with two new additions from 2018: the Tamil film Imaikkaa Nodigal and the Telugu version of NOTA (Amazon’s own page incorrectly lists the audio as Tamil). Some older Tamil, Telugu, and Bengali movies were added as well. Amazon Prime Video India announced that Jackky Bhagnani’s September Hindi release Mitron is coming to the service on November 10, so please be excited.

Streaming Video News: October 13, 2018

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with the addition of the 2018 sports biopic Soorma to the streaming catalog.

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with several 2018 theatrical releases. The lone Hindi film among them is Fanney Khan, which was disappointing in spite of its stellar cast. The Marathi movies Me Yetoy…Chhota Pudhari and Take Care Good Night are now available for streaming, as are the Tamil and Telugu versions of the thriller U Turn. (If you want to watch the 2016 Kannada film of the same name on which the new versions are based, find it here on Netflix.)

There are still more titles on the way in October. Sanju is supposedly coming to Netflix this month, and Prime announced that it will add John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate on October 19.

Streaming Video News: October 4, 2018

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with two 2018 theatrical releases. The romantic drama Dhadak is now available for streaming, as is the Bengali movie Bidaay Byomkesh. I also found some previously unknown titles during my ongoing project of checking Amazon’s “Customers who watched this item also watched” entries for every film on this list (!). Here’s what I turned up:

One update to the Netflix list is the addition of the 2017 Punjabi movie The Black Prince.

Streaming Video News: September 14, 2018

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with a bunch of recently added titles. In addition to a dozen older Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu titles, several 2018 releases are now available for streaming: Bus Stop (Marathi), Shaadi Teri Bajayenge Hum Band (Hindi), Uma (Bengali), and the Telugu films Goodachari and Srinavasa Kalyanam. The comedy special Improv All Stars: Game Night is also available, as is the English-language, Bollywood-inspired musical Basmati Blues, which is all kinds of problematic.

Amazon released the teaser for the new dating show Hear Me Love Me, hosted by Shilpa Shetty. It premieres September 28:

One bit of Netflix news is that, after a one-day absence, PK is available for streaming again.

Streaming Video News: August 24, 2018

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix because the horror series Ghoul is now available for streaming. The Netflix original series stars Radhika Apte and Manav Kaul, and it consists of three 45-minute episodes. On behalf of my fellow cowards, I appreciate that the whole series can be finished in one sitting with plenty of daylight hours to spare.

In other Netflix news, Chennai Express is set to expire on August 30, which is weird since it was just added on August 7. I’m not sure what’s up with that, but if it’s in your queue, you’d best watch it while you can in case it really disappears for good. Netflix also announced its acquisition of the movie Garbage by the director Q (Quashiq Mukherjee), with an anticipated premiere date later this year (possibly as early as September).

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with some newly added Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu films, joining Race 3 on the service for your weekend viewing pleasure. For everything else new on Prime — Bollywood or not — check Instant Watcher.

Streaming Video News: August 7, 2018

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix because Chennai Express is available for streaming again.

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with the additions of 2015’s Charlie Kay Chakkar Mein, the Telugu film Shankar Dada M.B.B.S., the Tamil movies Billa and Rowdy Kottai, and the Hindi comedy specials  Best of K Se Comedy and Best of Waiting Lounge. For everything else new on Netflix and Amazon Prime — Bollywood or not — check Instant Watcher.

Streaming Video News: August 1, 2018

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with more than a dozen new additions to the catalog. Ten of those films are Malayalam flicks from the last year or so, as well as the 2015 Hindi movie P Se PM Tak and the cartoon Mahabharat. I’m especially excited that Tikli and Laxmi Bomb is finally available for streaming. It had been on the festival circuit for the last year, and it’s really thought-provoking. I recommend it.

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with ten new Indian films. The 2018 Tamil theatrical release Thaanaa Serndha Koottam is now available for streaming, along with six Telugu movies, and the Bollywood flicks Amit Sahni Ki List, Main Aisa Hi Hoon, and 8×10 Tasveer (which is not very good).

Streaming Video News: July 25, 2018

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with an exciting new addition to the catalog. Two months after its theatrical release, John Abraham’s historical military drama Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran is now available for streaming. Other updates to my page include August 1st expiration dates for Ghayal Once Again (good riddance) and Saala Khadoos (aw, shucks) and an August 3rd debut date for the Netflix original Hindi movie Brij Mohan Amar Rahe!.

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with the addition of the Punjabi flick Ronde Sare Vyah Picho and the Telugu films Anjaneyulu and Jagadam. Also, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is back a brief disappearance. For everything else new on Prime and Netflix — Bollywood or not — check Instant Watcher.

Streaming Video News: July 17, 2018

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with one new addition to the catalog and a couple of “Coming Soon” announcements. First, the Hindi-dubbed version of the 2008 Telugu movie Krishnarjuna is now available for streaming (with ads if you don’t have a Prime membership). More importantly, Rajinikanth’s Kaala comes to Prime in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam on July 27. The series Comicstaan announced the release dates for its remaining five episodes. Most intriguing of all is the teaser for the original series Mirzapur, produced by Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment (who also did the series Inside Edge for Amazon). There’s no date set for Mirzapur‘s debut, but here’s a little something to pique your interest:

One other bit of news is that Bhavesh Joshi Superhero is coming to Netflix on July 31, 2018. I really liked this movie, and I can’t wait for more people to get the chance to check it out.

Streaming Video News: July 13, 2018

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with several additions. The new Amazon original comedy series Comicstaan is now available, as are the 2018 theatrical releases Angrezi Mein Kehte Hain (known internationally as “Seeking Happily Ever After“) and the Bengali film Aami Ashbo Phirey. Also, Tumhari Sulu was finally added to the US streaming catalog! It and Golmaal Again are the only two major titles that I can recall as having been available in India but not the US, so we should be caught up.

There was a hint that Raazi was going to be added to Prime today, but that scoop proved inaccurate. Amazon Prime Video India already tweeted that the Telugu film Officer drops tomorrow, so I’ll update my list accordingly. Update: here’s the link to Officer.
