I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with yesterday’s timely addition of 2007’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa (which I enjoyed). It joins Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 for streaming, in case you want to catch up on the franchise before heading to the theater for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 this weekend.

If those films have you in a spooky mood, I wrote about all the Indian Original horror movies and series on Netflix for What’s on Netflix (with a bonus list of all the licensed Indian horror films currently streaming).

And if that still isn’t enough scary content for you, I appeared on the “Bollywood Horror Top 13” episode of the Bollywood Drafts podcast. Josh Hurtado, Erin Fraser, Matt Bowes, and I had a spirited discussion about the best Hindi horror flicks, but ultimately I got to choose the movie that ranked #1.

Finally, I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Hulu with the addition of the Tamil film Lubber Pandhu (also available dubbed in Hindi and Malayalam).

Things will be busy on the streamers next week, with the following debuts scheduled:

November 6: Citadel: Honey Bunny, Season 1 on Prime (at 1:30 pm ET)
November 7: The Buckingham Murders on Netflix
November 8: ARM (Malayalam) on Hulu; Vettaiyan (Tamil) on Prime; Vijay 69 on Netflix

Bollywood Box Office: November 2-4, 2018

Badhaai Ho dominated the box office for a third consecutive weekend, earning $329,042 from 107 theaters ($3,075 average) from November 2-4, 2018, according to Bollywood Hungama. With $2,653,882 in earnings so far, it needs another $360,000 to move past Raazi into third place for the year.

Erin Fraser of the Bollywood Is For Lovers podcast chides me on Twitter whenever I point out instances of poorly reviewed films performing better in Canada than in the United States (as I did last week regarding Namaste England). Well, Erin, you’ll be happy to know that 5 Weddings made just $34 from one Canadian theater over the weekend, but a whopping $156 from the lone US theater showing it. You win this round, Canada! The romantic comedy has a ten-day total of $12,622.

Other Hindi movies still showing in North American theaters:

Guest Appearance on Bollywood Is For Lovers Podcast

Erin Fraser and Matt Bowes of Bollywood Is For Lovers graciously invited me to appear on a recent episode their podcast (after getting Shah Shahid of the Split Screen Podcast to waive my non-compete clause). They even let me pick the movies to discuss! Despite their having already covered a bunch of my favorite topics on previous episodes — Bipasha Basu horror movies, Jism 2, and a Randeep Hooda special with Shah — I was able to find a sub-genre Erin and Matt hadn’t yet discussed: Bollywood martial arts movies!

The two movies featured in the episode are the underrated Commando: A One Man Army and the ridiculous Baaghi. The films star two very different leading men: lifetime martial arts devotee Vidyut Jammwal and Bollywood scion Tiger Shroff. (I was excited to learn that Erin is also a huge fan of Tiger’s A Flying Jatt!) Commando and Baaghi both spawned sequels, so check them out — then listen to the podcast!
