The Next on Netflix India 2026 Lineup

Netflix hosted their Next on Netflix India 2026 event to reveal the Original titles they plan to release this year. The lineup included eight brand new titles, with additional details about other previously announced movies and series. I wrote about all of the titles presented at the event for What’s on Netflix, incorporating the new information into our giant 2026 Netflix India preview. That’s a pretty objective piece, so I thought I’d write about some of the Netflix Original titles I’m most looking forward to in 2026, starting with the movies.

Accused
Konkona Sen Sharma and Pratibha Ranta play a couple whose marriage is strained by allegations of sexual misconduct. The fact that Netflix India is even putting out an LGBTQ relationship drama makes it worth watching.

Ikka
Sunny Deol makes his streaming debut opposite Akshaye Khanna in this courtroom drama.

Lust Stories 3
Check out the lineup of directors for this anthology series: Vikramaditya Motwane, Kiran Rao, Shakun Batra, and Vishal Bhardwaj. Absolutely insane. The cast is outrageous, too: Konkona Sen Sharma, Radhika Apte, Vijay Varma, Abhishek Banerjee, Gurfateh Pirzada, Sana Thampi, Ali Fazal, Radhika Madan, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Siddharth.

Maa Behen
Madhuri Dixit plays Triptii Dimri’s mom. ‘Nuff said.

Made in Korea
This Tamil-Korean cross-cultural coming-of-age story sounds fun.

Toaster
This is the movie I’m most excited about. Rajkummar Rao plays a guy whose new marriage — to Sanya Malhotra — implodes immediately, and he becomes obsessed with a fancy toaster they got as a wedding gift.

I was disappointed that Imran Khan’s comeback film Adhure Hum Adhure Tum wasn’t part of the Next on Netflix India 2026 presentation. Apparently, the executive who greenlit it isn’t with the company anymore, so the team is just waiting around to see if Netflix is still interested.

Now the series. Obviously, I don’t review many Indian series on this site, but a few of these Original shows look pretty good.

Family Business
Anil Kapoor plays a tycoon who hands the reigns of his company over to his successor (Vijay Varma), only to boot his protégé and retake the company. It sounds like a more contentious version of the Disney succession drama from a few years ago.

Musafir Cafe
I love that they’re offering something besides thrillers and crime shows. Netflix needs more romantic dramas.

Super Subbu
They also need more comedies. This Telugu show about an unqualified sex ed teacher sounds funny.

Talaash: A Mother’s Search
I will watch anything set in Shimla.

Several of the newly announced shows feel like Netflix is cutting corners (something we know they’ve been doing, like cancelling the second season of Kaala Paani and postponing Black Warrant Season 2 because of budget issues). For example, Netflix bought the rights to make a second season of the YouTube series Dhindora. They’ve got a reality show about rich Indians in Dubai called Desi Bling. They have a fiction show based on the online learning platform Physics Wallah. These seem relatively low-effort to develop and probably cost next to nothing.

Then there’s the reality show Lock Upp from producer Ekta Kapoor. She had another show named Lock Upp that aired on her streaming service ALTBalaji in 2022, hosted by Kangana Ranaut. It’s unclear from the materials Netflix released if this is a reboot of the existing format, or if they are just re-airing the original 2022 season. The latter would be hilarious.

All in all, we’ve got four returning Original Indian series, 13 new Original series, and 11 Original movies confirmed for the rest of the year. That’s a lot, especially since only Season 2 of Kohrra and the new series Hello Bachhon (they Physics Wallah show) have release dates (February 11 and March 6, respectively). I guess we’ll have to wait and see what we get in 2026.

Today, Netflix announced its annual Pandigai slate of licensed Tamil films that will stream on Netflix in 2026 after their theatrical runs end. Cinema Express has the full list of titles. (Update: Netflix revealed their Telugu post-theatrical slate the next day.)

ZEE5 premiered a new Hindi film starring Radhika Apte today: Saali Mohabbat.

Months after Aamir Khan took his movies off of streaming services and made them available for rent on YouTube, another movie rental platform has debuted as a viewing option. The social cataloging service Letterboxd (follow me on Letterboxd here) has launched a virtual video store in specializing in hard-to-find films. One of the first movies they are offering is Anurag Kashyap’s thriller Kennedy, which played at the Cannes Film Festival and 2023 and then disappeared. It never released in theaters or on any streaming service. It’s now available for rent in select countries (not India, unfortunately) until January 9, 2026. In the US, a 48-hour rental costs $19.99 — not cheap, but fair considering it’s been impossible to find until now. You can rent Kennedy here, or check out the other movies available for rent.

Streaming Video News: November 20, 2025

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with the addition of two big theatrical releases: the Tamil film Bison Kaalamaadan and India’s submission to the 2026 Oscars, Homebound (which is terrific). Note that the version of Homebound playing on Netflix is the censored version that aired in Indian cinemas and not the version that I reviewed. I wrote about some of the scenes that were cut from the censored version of Homebound earlier this year.

The star-packed reality special Dining With The Kapoors debuts on Netflix on Friday.

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with today’s debut of Season 3 of The Family Man.

Finally, I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Hulu with the premiere of the Tamil series Nadu Center (also available in Bengali, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, and Telugu). Also new is the Hindi series Ziddi Ishq (also available in Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu)

Streaming Video News: November 13, 2025

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with a bunch of new additions. Besides the premiere of Season 3 of Delhi Crime, the 2025 films added today include: Dude (Tamil), Jolly LLB 3 (Hindi), and Telusu Kada (Telugu). Other additions include a handful of Classic Yash Raj Films titles:

Earlier this week, it was reported that Jolly LLB 3 will stream concurrently on Netflix and JioHotstar. I suspect that only applies to India, as there is no sign of Jolly LLB 3 on Hulu in the United States. I did update my list of Bollywood movies on Hulu with the streaming debut of the Malayalam film Avihitham (also available in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu).

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with the streaming debut of director Anurag Kashyap’s Hindi film Nishaanchi— AND the world premiere of Nishaanchi 2! They just skipped theaters and dropped the sequel with no prior notice!

Streaming Video News: October 30, 2025

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with the streaming debuts of Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 4 and the Kannada blockbuster Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1.

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with Dhanush’s Idli Kadai and the silent comedy Ufff Yeh Siyapaa, starring Sohum Shah, Nushrratt Bharuccha, and Nora Fatehi. Netflix released a trailer for the Original Hindi thriller Baramulla, which debuts November 7:

Finally, I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Hulu with some random catalogue additions, including the Bengali films Sentimentaaal and Shudhu Tomari Jonyo and the series Kajalmaya (Marathi) and Maana Ke Hum Yaar Nahi (Hindi). The Malayalam hit movie Lokah Chapter One: Chandra is supposedly coming to Hulu/Jiohotstar, but it’s not up yet (if we actually do get it in the United States).

Streaming Video News: October 9, 2025

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with the streaming premiere of War 2. The main catalogue entry features Hindi and Tamil dialogue options than can be chosen from the audio menu. There is a separate catalogue entry for the Telugu-dubbed version of War 2. I have no idea why. The animated series Kurukshetra: The Great War of Mahabrata debuts October 10, but that’s the last official Netflix premiere date on the calendar for now.

In other news, Netflix made some user interface changes to downplay identifying Netflix Original shows and films as Netflix Originals. Again, I am not sure why.

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Hulu with the premiere of Konkona Sen Sharma’s Hindi series Search: The Naina Murder Case (also available in Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu).

Finally, I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with the addition of the Hindi-dubbed version of Rajnikanth’s film Coolie, renamed Coolie: The Powerhouse.

Streaming Video News: August 21, 2025

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with today’s streaming debuts of Kajol’s horror flick Maa and the Tamil film Maareesan. There are more upcoming Netflix expiration dates to be aware of, besides those I mentioned last week. I’m especially sad to see Cargo leave. Here’s the films on the way out:

This isn’t related to Indian cinema, but I wrote a piece for What’s on Netflix about what animated films to watch if your kids are obsessed with Kpop Demon Hunters and you need to redirect them to something different. This is a global problem. 😉

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with today’s streaming debut of the Tamil film Thalaivan Thalaivii. The Telugu movie Hari Hara Veera Mallu joined the catalog earlier this week. Prime made two big announcements today, including an 8-film post-theatrical licensing deal with Maddock Films and an August 29 premiere date for the new Original Hindi movie Songs of Paradise.

Streaming Video News: May 29, 2025

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with today’s addition of the Tamil action film Retro. Yesterday, the streamer added the Telugu sequel HIT: The Third Case to the catalog, and Salman Khan’s Sikandar became available over the weekend. Netflix also renewed three Hindi series for additional seasons: The Royals, Black Warrant, and Mismatched, for its fourth and final season.

A bunch of Telugu movies and the Hindi film Axone are set to expire from Netflix in June:

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Hulu with the debut of the new Hindi series Criminal Justice: A Family Matter (also available in Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu). Disney — the company that owns Hulu — announced new perks programs for Disney+ and Hulu subscribers, with further details on the Hulu program coming June 2.

There are no new Indian movies on Amazon Prime this week, but I am excited to watch the kidnapping thriller Stolen when it premieres June 4 (the afternoon of June 3 in the US):
