I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with the world premiere of the Hindi film Songs of Paradise, the story of Kashmir’s first female radio singer.

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with the streaming debut of Metro… In Dino. In a curious move, Netflix also added John Abraham’s Tehran to its catalog today — two weeks after its world premier on ZEE5. I didn’t care for Tehran, so now I can skip it on two services! The Telugu film Kingdom was added earlier this week.

There are some more upcoming Netflix expiration dates to be aware of:

If you’re wondering why I haven’t mentioned updates to my list of Bollywood movies on Hulu page in the last few Streaming Video News posts, it’s because there’s not been much to report. Just a few random cable shows added and the odd Bengali movie from 2018. Things look like they’ll be slow until mid-September when the streamer debuts the new Telugu series Rambo in Love and Season 2 of Kajol’s series The Trial.

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with the recent addition of the Hindi films Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns, and Santa Banta Pvt Ltd. Netflix just dropped the trailer for the romcom Ginny Weds Sunny, which debuts on October 9:

Here are all the Indian titles set to expire from Netflix on October 1:

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with dozens of Indian titles added in the last week. Critic Josh Hurtado is especially excited about the addition of a subtitled version of the “BANANAS” Telugu spy thriller Rudranetra.

In Theaters March 8, 2013

For the first time in months, there are no new Hindi movies opening in Chicago area theaters this weekend. The sequel Saheb, Biwi aur Gangster Returns didn’t make the cut locally, which isn’t a surprise given that the original Saheb, Biwi aur Gangster earned a pathetic $13,634 in the two weeks it spent in U.S. theaters in 2011.

As of Friday, March 8, 2013, Kai Po Che! remains the most widely available Hindi movie showing in Chicagoland. After earning $876,568 from its first two weeks in the U.S., it carries over at the AMC River East 21 in Chicago, Big Cinemas Golf Glen 5 in Niles, AMC South Barrington 30 in South Barrington, and Regal Cantera Stadium 17 in Warrenville. Many theaters have cut back on the number of showings per day of Kai Po Che! and other niche films to free up screenspace for Oz The Great and Powerful, so make sure to check the schedule before heading to the theater.

With first weekend U.S. earnings of $159,619, The Attacks of 26/11 gets a second weekend at the Golf Glen 5, South Barrington 30, and Cantera 17. The Golf Glen 5 is the only area theater holding over last week’s other new release, I, Me aur Main, which presumably fared even worse at the box office.

Other Indian movies showing at the Golf Glen 5 this weekend include the Telugu film Gundello Godari and the Malayalam film Manjadikuru (“Lucky Red Seeds“).
