Streaming Video News: January 22, 2026

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with today’s premiere of the Amazon Original Telugu movie Cheekatilo, starring Sobhita Dhulipala. Bhumi Pednekar’s grim-looking new crime series Daldal premieres January 29:

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Hulu with today’s premiere of the Hotstar Specials Hindi series Space Gen: Chandrayaan (also streaming in Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu).

Finally, I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with the streaming debut of the Hindi film Tere Ishk Mein.

If the traditional “8-week theatrical exclusivity window for Hindi films” pattern holds true, Dhurandhar should become available for streaming next Thursday afternoon (January 29) in the United States. Netflix is reportedly the movie’s streaming partner, and they supposedly paid a ton of money for it. Given how well Dhurandhar continues to do at the box office, I won’t be surprised if they negotiate a deal to keep it off of Netflix for a couple weeks longer. I haven’t heard anything to indicate that that will happen, but it’s what I’d try to do if I’d produced Dhurandhar.

The Netflix Original movie sequel Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders premieres on Friday, followed by Season 4 of The Great Indian Kapil Show on Saturday, with first guest Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

My list of Bollywood movies on Hulu got an update today with two new series: Madhuri Dixit’s Hindi show Mrs. Deshpande (also in Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu) and the Malayalam series Pharma (also in Bengali, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu).

After posting a review of Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders on Friday, I’m going to take some time off for the holidays. I’ll try to update the three main streaming pages with new additions, but I’ll do so sporadically. Here’s a calendar of some of the films and shows coming to streaming over the next couple of weeks (including the few we know from the rest of the YRF Holiday Season event):

December 22: Aaha Kalyanam (Tamil) on Netflix
December 25: Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat on ZEE5
December 26: Ek Tha Tiger, Hichki, Sultan, & Tiger Zinda Hai on Netflix
January 1, 2026: LBW: Love Beyond Wicket, Season 1 (Tamil) on Hulu

If you want to know what’s coming even further out, please check out my GIANT preview of the new Indian Original movies and series coming to Netflix in 2026 (and beyond). I love putting this together for What’s on Netflix every year, and it’s full of a ton of great information.

Streaming Video News: November 20, 2025

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with the addition of two big theatrical releases: the Tamil film Bison Kaalamaadan and India’s submission to the 2026 Oscars, Homebound (which is terrific). Note that the version of Homebound playing on Netflix is the censored version that aired in Indian cinemas and not the version that I reviewed. I wrote about some of the scenes that were cut from the censored version of Homebound earlier this year.

The star-packed reality special Dining With The Kapoors debuts on Netflix on Friday.

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with today’s debut of Season 3 of The Family Man.

Finally, I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Hulu with the premiere of the Tamil series Nadu Center (also available in Bengali, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, and Telugu). Also new is the Hindi series Ziddi Ishq (also available in Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu)

Streaming Video News: October 30, 2025

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with the streaming debuts of Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 4 and the Kannada blockbuster Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1.

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with Dhanush’s Idli Kadai and the silent comedy Ufff Yeh Siyapaa, starring Sohum Shah, Nushrratt Bharuccha, and Nora Fatehi. Netflix released a trailer for the Original Hindi thriller Baramulla, which debuts November 7:

Finally, I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Hulu with some random catalogue additions, including the Bengali films Sentimentaaal and Shudhu Tomari Jonyo and the series Kajalmaya (Marathi) and Maana Ke Hum Yaar Nahi (Hindi). The Malayalam hit movie Lokah Chapter One: Chandra is supposedly coming to Hulu/Jiohotstar, but it’s not up yet (if we actually do get it in the United States).

Streaming Video News: October 9, 2025

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with the streaming premiere of War 2. The main catalogue entry features Hindi and Tamil dialogue options than can be chosen from the audio menu. There is a separate catalogue entry for the Telugu-dubbed version of War 2. I have no idea why. The animated series Kurukshetra: The Great War of Mahabrata debuts October 10, but that’s the last official Netflix premiere date on the calendar for now.

In other news, Netflix made some user interface changes to downplay identifying Netflix Original shows and films as Netflix Originals. Again, I am not sure why.

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Hulu with the premiere of Konkona Sen Sharma’s Hindi series Search: The Naina Murder Case (also available in Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu).

Finally, I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with the addition of the Hindi-dubbed version of Rajnikanth’s film Coolie, renamed Coolie: The Powerhouse.

Streaming Video News: September 19, 2025

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with today’s streaming debut of the animated film Mahavatar Narsimha and yesterday’s premiere of the Hindi series The Ba***ds of Bollywood. I wrote about everything you need to know about the new show from Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan for What’s on Netflix. In other news, the sports drama Soorma expires October 13.

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Hulu with two new series: the Tamil show Police Police (also in Hindi, Malayalam, and Telugu) and Season 2 of Kajol’s Hindi series The Trial (also in Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu).

Streaming Video News: August 28, 2025

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with the world premiere of the Hindi film Songs of Paradise, the story of Kashmir’s first female radio singer.

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with the streaming debut of Metro… In Dino. In a curious move, Netflix also added John Abraham’s Tehran to its catalog today — two weeks after its world premier on ZEE5. I didn’t care for Tehran, so now I can skip it on two services! The Telugu film Kingdom was added earlier this week.

There are some more upcoming Netflix expiration dates to be aware of:

If you’re wondering why I haven’t mentioned updates to my list of Bollywood movies on Hulu page in the last few Streaming Video News posts, it’s because there’s not been much to report. Just a few random cable shows added and the odd Bengali movie from 2018. Things look like they’ll be slow until mid-September when the streamer debuts the new Telugu series Rambo in Love and Season 2 of Kajol’s series The Trial.

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with today’s premiere of the Vir Das comedy special Fool Volume — his 6th standup special for Netflix! This week, the streamer announced an August 13 release date for the new spy series Saare Jahan Se Accha.

Here are some upcoming Netflix expiration dates to be aware of:

This weekend’s new Hindi streaming debut is the Sanjay Dutt-Mouni Roy horror comedy The Bhootnii on ZEE5.

I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Hulu with the premiere of Season 2 of Special Ops (also available in Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu) and the streaming debut of the Tamil film DNA (also available in Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, and Telugu).

Finally, I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with the streaming debuts of both the Tamil version and Telugu version of Kuberaa (which was filmed in both languages simultaneously).

Update on My Hulu Streaming Page Audit

Four months ago, I posted that a large number of Hindi movies had disappeared from Hulu. I’m not exactly sure when it happened, but it was likely after Disney and Reliance announced their merger in late 2024. Since that February post, I’ve clicked on all of the approximately 2,000 links I had on my Bollywood Movies Streaming on Hulu page at the start of 2025 to see which are still active.

After removing all the inactive links, my Hulu page is less the half the size it previously was. Approximately 800 titles remain (with a couple of caveats I’ll get to in a bit). Most of the loses were within Hulu’s Indian movie collection. As it stands, there are 53 films in the Hindi/Desi section, 4 Bengali movies, 17 Kannada films, 19 Malayalam movies, 13 Marathi films, 20 Tamil movies, and 22 Telugu films. I removed over 1,000 movies from the page.

Admittedly, I’m probably missing some titles. I look for movies and series myself, getting updates from various news sources and even checking the “You May Also Like” recommendations under individual titles. None of what I do is automated.

Besides that acknowledgment, there are two big caveats. While some movies and series have disappeared outright and don’t return a result when you search Hulu’s catalog for them, other catalog entries remain with the option to watch the trailer. Gaslight is an example, though there are other films and series to which this applies. Disney’s plans for Hulu are still in flux, and that goes double for the “Hotstar” Indian content it hosts. I’m keeping these “trailer only” links in the page for now since I’m not certain that they’re gone for good.

The other caveat is that the 800 or so remaining titles are not all unique properties. Thanks to dubbing, a lot of titles repeat within the catalog. Hulu/JioHotstar presents almost all of their original “Hotstar Specials” programming — which includes around 70 series — in seven languages (the original plus six dubs). That means that fewer than half of the 800 links on the page represent unique titles.

While I give credit to Hulu/JioHotstar for adding new, original Indian shows on an almost weekly basis, it’s a huge shame to lose so much of its movie collection. A lot of these back catalog titles aren’t streaming anywhere else right now. They’re just gone, and I’m not sure they’ll be back once Disney figures out how it wants to organize its various streaming entities.
