I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix because director Sujoy Ghosh’s March, 2019 film Badla is now available for streaming. I didn’t like it as much as his earlier mystery Kahaani (also on Netflix), but it’s entertaining enough. If you’d like to play the Split Screen Podcast at-home game, you can watch The Invisible Guest — the Spanish movie on which Badla is based — on Netflix as well.
I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with a handful of Indian films added in the last several days, including the 2019 releases 1st Rank Raju (Telugu), Gho Gho Rani (Hindi), and Raatchasi (Tamil). In case you missed my last Streaming Video News post, Salman Khan’s Bharat is now available for streaming, too.
To give you a sense of just how big Amazon’s Indian catalog is, I recently removed about 80 expired links from my list, and it only reduced the count to 2,428 movies. If you wanted to watch a different Indian movie on Prime every day, it would take you six-and-a-half years to see all of them — and that’s only if Amazon didn’t add any new films!

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with dozens of Indian movies added in the last week. Amazon India is wrapping up its Prime Day promotions, with last of its big 2019 releases — the Marathi film Mogra Phulaalaa — due to join the streaming service on July 14. I’m surprised that Student of the Year 2 wasn’t ultimately part of the promotions, but it’ll make its way to Prime eventually. Besides the previously announced 2019 releases, several more were added to Prime in the last week:
Other recent notable additions include the classic comedy 3 Idiots, the lovely Bengali-English-Japanese film The Japanese Wife, and the hilarious documentary Meet the Patels, which became available on Prime the same day it expired from Netflix.
I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with two 2019 Malayalam releases just added today: Ishq and Kumbalangi Nights. The 2019 Telugu film Maharshi was added yesterday.
These additions are part of Amazon’s big marketing push in India, leading up to Prime Day on July 15-16. Here’s what else to expect in the coming days (get your 30-day free trial now if you don’t yet have Prime):
Due to the time difference between India and the United States, these films will likely become available in the US the day before their official release date. The asterisk by Student of the Year 2 is because Amazon hasn’t officially announced it yet — although the cast just appeared in a new Prime promo video. My information comes from Bollywood Buff, a great site that keeps track of streaming video licensing deals in India, including likely streaming release dates for Hindi movies. Some of these dates may not apply outside of India, but it’s still fun to see what’s might be on the horizon.
Bollywood Buff expects The Tashkent Files to join on Netflix on July 12, with Badla also becoming available sometime this month (I predict July 8).
I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with a July 9 expiration date for the international production Lion. I also added a link to the Netflix original Hindi horror series Typewriter, which premieres July 19. The trailer is creepy:
I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with the addition of Kalank, the first big release in Amazon Prime Video India’s extended Prime Day event. I thought Kalank was fine, but if you’re only interested in it for Madhuri Dixit’s dancing, skip ahead in the video to 2:06:11. Another dozen Indian movies were added in the last several days, including the 2019 releases Daivam Sakshi (Malayalam) and Falaknuma Das (Telugu).
I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with a pair of 2019 releases added over the weekend. John Abraham’s spy thriller Romeo Akbar Walter is now available for streaming, as is the Tamil film Super Deluxe.

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with three additions to the streaming catalog. Kahaani is back, which makes sense since director Sujoy Ghosh’s Badla is likely to join Netflix in early July. The Aamir Khan-hosted documentary Rubaru Roshini is also now available, as is director Aditya Kripalani’s Tottaa Pataaka Item Maal. Like Kripalani’s previous film — Tikli and Laxmi Bomb — Tottaa Pataaka Item Maal also deals with sexual violence against women, using it as the basis for a revenge drama. I found the new film too upsetting to finish, so be forewarned.
In addition to all of the Bollywood movies expiring from Netflix on July 1, five non-fiction TV series will depart the service on July 25: Buddha Sutra, The Great Escape, Ithihas Ki Thali Se, Kissa Currency Ka, and Samagri, Sampatti Aur Sauda.

The Amazon Prime Video India Twitter account published a list of Indian films coming to Prime in July as part of Amazon’s extended Prime Day promotions. Be on the lookout for Kalank on July 1.

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix because a bunch of films are set to expire next week. With the completion of their two-year streaming contract, these fifteen Hindi titles leave Netflix on July 1, 2019:
Ishqiya, Dedh Ishqiya, Ankhon Dekhi, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Hunterr, and Aankhen were added to Amazon Prime in recent months. Piku, Shahid, Filmistaan, Heropanti, and Youngistaan are all available with Eros Now, and you can sign up for a free 7-trial through Amazon by following this link

Vacation’s over! I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with a bunch of new additions in the last two weeks. Besides lots of cartoons for kids, a trio of 2019 releases were just added: the Marathi film Luckee and the Hindi movies Rakkhosh and Luka Chuppi. Also new are the Netflix original series Leila and last year’s delighfully clever horror comedy Stree.
I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with more than 50 Indian titles added in the last two weeks. 2019 releases added include the Amazon original series Mind the Malhotras, Anu Menon’s standup comedy special Wonder Menon, and the following films:
