I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix with today’s surprise additions of the Hindi romantic drama Starfish and the Telugu action film Salaar (also available in Kannada, Malayalam, and Tamil). Netflix also announced a February 9 premiere date for the Original thriller movie Bhakshak, starring Bhumi Pednekar.
Two Irrfan Khan movies will expire from Netflix next month. Talvar (which is great) leaves February 1, followed by the Bengali film Doob: No Bed of Roses on February 4.
I also updated my list of Bollywood movies on Amazon Prime with Thursday’s debut of the Hindi series Indian Police Force, starring Sidharth Malhotra in his first web series.

Kathy,
Looking forward to your 2023 review.
I’ve had a poor year watching bollywood films, I only managed to watch five films all year. I am tired of the typical bollywood films and tend to foucs on the more art style story films.
My 2023 started with Goodbye (2022) starring Amitabh, is shows how a family deals with the loss of thier mother/wife. KGF Chapter 2 (2022) carried on the formula of Yash posing as much as he could lol! Shiv Shastri Balboa (2023) I enjoyed very much and great perofrmamces by Anupam Kher & Neena Gupta. Laal Kabootar (2019) was my surprise of the year, a gritty thriller set in the underbelly of Karachi staring Ahmed Ali Akbar of Paarizaad fame. Jawan (2023) was everything I dislike about about Bollywood, all fast & furios with explosiosn etc, not for me.
Goodbye – 3/5
KGF Chapter 2 – 2/5
Shis Shastri Balboa – 3/5
Laal Kabootar – 4/5
Jawan – 2/5
Happy 2024!
Thanks for sharing your list, gospvg! Laal Kabootar sounds especially interesting. There are a few more movies I want to watch before I finish my 2023 lists: Gadar 2 because it was a box office hit; 12th Fail and Three of Us because they were well-regarded; maybe Animal or Dunki if they become available for streaming in the US. I’m hoping to post my Best and Worst lists in early February, before the 2024 theatrical releases start showing up on the streamers. Happy 2024!
