Opening July 6: Bol Bachchan

The colorful action-comedy Bol Bachchan — starring Ajay Devgn and Abhishek Bachchan — opens in three Chicago area theaters on July 6, 2012.

Bol Bachchan opens on Friday at the Big Cinemas Golf Glen 5 in Niles, AMC South Barrington 30 in South Barrington, and Regal Cantera Stadium 17 in Warrenville. The movie is rated PG and has a listed runtime of 2 hrs. 30 min.

Teri Meri Kahaani carries over for a third week at the South Barrington 30, having earned $671,442 in the U.S. so far. Ferrari Ki Sawaari gets a fourth week at the Golf Glen 5. Its U.S. earnings stand at $420,046.

Other Indian movies showing at the Golf Glen 5 this weekend include Diamond Necklace (Malayalam), Romeo (Kannada), Eega (Telugu) and its Tamil version, Naan Ee.

The intriguing documentary Supermen of Malegaon released theatrically in India on June 29, but not in the U.S. However, as of July 4, the film is available for streaming internationally on Mela.

Also worth checking out is the cute new trailer for Barfi!, which opens on September 14:

Bol Bachchan has got a very good response from the press shows. I am not watching it though. Would surely read your review. Barfi looks very interesting though.

By the way, Gangs Of Wasseypur 2 releasing on August 8. This is not a good decision I guess as Ek Tha Tiger is releasing on August 15.

    Cheers,

    Keyur 🙂

I’ll be watching and reviewing Bol Bachchan on Monday, Keyur. I hope it’s good, but I’m not sure what to expect based on the trailer. Barfi, on the other hand, looks great. And I’m really looking forward to Supermen of Malegaon.

Since the size of the audience for Gangs of Wasseypur 2 is limited to people who saw the first half of the film, I’m not sure it’ll compete directly for the same mass audience that Ek Tha Tiger will bring to the theater. I hope the decision doesn’t affect ticket sales. Maybe someday GoW will be released in the U.S. and I’ll actually get to see it. 🙂

Hmm. Hope it turns out to be good. I missed Superman Of Malegaon. Yesterday was its last day over here. Will have to watch it online now.
And I do think GOW 2 will compete with ETT’s mass audience because, at least in Mumbai, its the masses who have gone to watch GOW 1. Yes, let’s hope it doesn’t affect the ticket sales.
I guess it will release in the US surely. It has to 🙂

I saw Bol Bachchan over the weekend. Taken for pure entertainment value, my wife and I really liked it. We (and others) were laughing out loud. It’s way over the top of course, but really enjoyable.

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it, too, Karma! I’ll be posting my positive review of Bol Bachchan on Wednesday.
