The family crime drama Aurangzeb is now available for streaming on Netflix. This is one of my favorite movies of 2013, and it’s a far better showcase for Arjun Kapoor’s talent than his most recent release, Gunday.

I like the changes Eros Now made to their homepage, which now highlights free movies and films recently added to the streaming service.

Netflix added a bunch of Hindi films to their streaming catalog today, according to Instant Watcher. Most of the titles are old favorites that were temporarily dropped from the service. I’ve reviewed many of the movies, so here’s my ranking of the films just added to Netflix:

  1. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge
  2. Chak De! India
  3. Dostana
  4. Mere Brother Ki Dulhan
  5. Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi
  6. Band Baaja Baaraat
  7. Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year

Three other movies were also added today: Veer-Zaara, Dhoom, and Mohabbatein. Netflix’s entire Bollywood catalog can be found here.

In other streaming video news, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela was recently added to Eros Now.

Just one month after its theatrical debut, R… Rajkumar is already available on Eros Now. I’m not sure it’s worth the $3.99 rental cost, but it’s there if you want it. Krrish 3 was also recently added to the service, and it’s the better option.

In celebration of Christmas, Eros Now has made a number of its premium titles available for streaming for free when you sign up for a trial subscription. Those titles include flicks from 2013, such as Lootera, Madras Cafe, Ek Thi Daayan, Grand Masti, Raanjhanaa, and — (cue the fanfare) — Krrish 3! If you’ve been waiting to check out the service, this is the perfect time to give it a try.

Eros Now also recently added Inkaar, which I’m eager to watch since it didn’t open in the U.S. It’s not included with the free trial, but Arjun Rampal and Chitrangada Singh are hot enough that I can be swayed to shell out $7.99 for a month’s subscription.

Merry Christmas!

If the assortment of Bollywood options currently in theaters isn’t enough for you, two new movies debut on Eros Now today. In addition to the 2008 thriller Aamir, Phata Poster Nikla Hero appears on the service just two months after its theatrical debut. Of all the 2013 releases I’ve seen so far, Phata Poster Nikla Hero is the most delightful surprise.

Vishal Bhardwaj’s Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola is now available for streaming on Netflix. I love this quirky comedy from earlier this year. Here’s a link to Netflix’s current “Bollywood” catalog (they have a separate category for “Hindi-Language” films that’s mostly the same thing).

A few movies in Eros Now’s “Coming Soon” section have confirmed dates for when they will become available on the streaming service. Those include: Welcome to Sajjanpur (November 8), Paan Singh Tomar (November 15), No One Killed Jessica (November 15), and Aamir (November 22).

Shootout at Wadala debuts on Eros Now on Friday, October 25, 2013. I was surprised by how much I liked this thriller from earlier this year.

For those of you wanting a refresher before Krrish 3 releases on November 1, Eros Now offers both of its predecessors — Koi… Mil Gaya and Krrish — for rent at $1.99 each or as part of the $7.99 monthly subscription.

The great road trip flick Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is now available for streaming on Netflix. I really like both ZNMD and director Zoya Akhtar’s previous film, Luck By Chance, which is also on Netflix.

Consider this a warning rather than a recommendation: Grand Masti debuts on Eros Now on Friday, October 11.

Streaming Video News: October 4, 2013

Raaz 3 is now available for streaming on Netflix. With Halloween less than four weeks away, it’s the perfect time to check out this not-so-scary supernatural thriller from 2012.

Today marks the streaming debut of Lootera on Eros Now. The movie is gorgeous, and well worth the rental price of $3.99.

The 2008 thriller Kidnap is now available for streaming on Netflix. While by no means a great movie, Kidnap stars Sanjay Dutt in perhaps my favorite role I’ve ever seen him play. Dutt plays the father of a kidnapped young woman — a la Liam Neeson in Taken — a role befitting a man of his age (Dutt was 49 when the film released). He still gets to kick plenty of butts but without having to simultaneously romance a woman in her early twenties. I wish there were more cool dad roles for Bollywood actors. One can’t play a college student forever (right?).

Mark your calendars for Friday, October 4, when Lootera makes its streaming debut on Eros Now. Lootera is currently my favorite movie of 2013, so I’d say it’s worth the $1.99 rental.
