Opening April 27: Tezz

The Hindi action flick Tezz opens in the Chicago area on April 27, 2012. Tezz features Ajay Devgn and Anil Kapoor in a “ticking time bomb” thriller set on a train speeding from Glasgow to London.

Tezz opens on Friday at the Regal Gardens Stadium 1-6 in Skokie, Big Cinemas Golf Glen 5 in Niles, AMC South Barrington 30 in South Barrington, and Regal Cantera Stadium 17 in Warrenville. It has a runtime of 2 hrs. 3 min. (Read my review of Tezz here.)

Despite modest earnings of $169,209 during its first weekend in the U.S., the clever comedy Vicky Donor gets a second week at the Golf Glen 5, South Barrington 30, and Cantera 17.

Housefull 2 carries over for a fourth week at the Golf Glen 5 and South Barrington 30, having earned $1,503,059 in the U.S. so far.

Other Indian films showing at the Golf Glen 5 this weekend include Cobra (Malayalam), Mayamohini (Malayalam), Oru Kal Oru Kannadi (Tamil), and Dhammu (Telugu), which is also showing at the Cinemark at Seven Bridges in Woodridge.

This Friday also marks the streaming debut of recent Bollywood romance Chaar Din Ki Chandni and the Bengali film Flop-E on Mela. Chaar Din Ki Chandni spent a week in Chicago area theaters when it opened on March 9.

Nice review of Vicky Donor, Keyur! I had no idea that the subject of infertility isn’t much discussed in India, especially given the value placed on having children.

As for Tezz, my concern is that I have no idea what the movie is about. The official description is: “One man is out to get back what was unjustly taken away from him… the other is willing to do whatever it takes to stop him in order to serve justice; both are pitted against each other…and both are pitted against time.” What the heck does that even mean?

The plots of most successful thrillers can usually be summed up in one sentence. For example, Die Hard: “A cop’s reunion with his ex-wife is ruined when her office is taken over by terrorists.” Or Taken: “A CIA operative uses all of his skills to rescue his kidnapped daughter.” Compare those descriptions to that of Tezz, and I think there’s cause for concern.

Thanks a lot Kathy for the appreciation 🙂 Yes, the issue of sperm donation is hardly heard in India. This is proved from Vicky’s reaction when he hears about it for the first time from Dr Chaddha. He is just unable to stop his laughter 🙂

And your concern for Tezz is justified. However, the initial reports from the press shows yesterday are positive. Let’s hope our concern is proved wrong 🙂 I will be watching it tomorrow.

        Cheers 🙂
