Opening August 31: Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se

Update: When I published this on the afternoon of August 29, all the theaters had posted their full weekend schedules. Check again on Friday, and Stree is showing at the AMC South Barrington 24 in South Barrington and Regal Cantera Stadium 17 in Warrenville. It’s showing in 60 theaters across North America, and it has a listed runtime of 2 hrs. 8 min.

One new Hindi film opens in Chicago area theaters on August 31, 2018, and sadly it’s not Stree. It’s the third installment in Dharmendra & Sons comedy franchise: Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se.

YPDPS opens Friday at MovieMax Cinemas in Niles, AMC South Barrington 24 in South Barrington, and Regal Cantera Stadium 17 in Warrenville. It has a listed runtime of 2 hrs 25 min.

Gold and Satyameva Jayate carry over for a third week at MovieMax and the South Barrington 24, which also gives a second week to Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi.

Other Indian and Pakistani movies showing in the Chicago area this weekend:

      1. Thank You

I apologize for encroaching on this comment area to initiate a message for Kathy of moviemavengal (who was the reason for my discovery of this web-site) and, in case she gets to read this, I would like to say:

“Hello and thank you for your video review of “Running Shaadi”, a movie I would not have seen had it not been for you noticeably favorable enthusiasm and it was a joy to watch how subtly good the movie was in terms of (1) getting regional Indian accents and personas right, (2) exceptionally good acting and, something that most Bollywood films do not get right, (3) a surprisingly interesting finale. I hope you get ever-growing satisfaction from your ‘Pardesi’ Youtube channel (that’s what brought me to this website). If you want to polish your SRK credentials to a hipster-level grade, try to see (if you haven’t already) his miniscule cameo guiding a couple of his character’s ‘college juniors’ in an English+Hindi medium Indian film set at an Indian college from the Early Bronze Age called ‘In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones’. I prefer not to subscribe to your Youtube channel for personal reasons, but consider myself lucky that this may be a possible way for me to send you a message of appreciation. I’ll keep watching your videos nevertheless, as they are societally beneficial. For instance, I think people watching the hysterical glee you had in your video wherein a Mr. Karan Johar screams ‘Bahubali’ in the trailer of a Mr. Diljit Dosanjh film trailer is so satisfying that it reduces their instinct for belligerence, possibly increasing the odds of total world peace.”

        Regards.
