Streaming Video News: December 25, 2014

I updated my list of Bollywood movies on Netflix to reflect two changes to the catalog. The enjoyable 2012 comedy Bol Bachchan will expire on January 1, 2015. More importantly, the 2014 thriller Mardaani is now available for streaming. Watch it for Rani Mukerji’s terrific performance as a tough cop.

I was just wondering, how do you know when a movie is expiring or when a movie has just been added. Do you check through netflix every hour?

Have you noticed that most movies being added by netflix are under the yash raj films banner? In fact, almost every movie from 2010 is on Netflix. Does Yash raj and neyflix have a contract or something?

I’m sure they do. As opposed to Eros International — which runs the streaming service Eros Now — Yash Raj Films doesn’t have its own streaming service for the movies it produces. Farhan Akhtar’s production house, Excel Entertainment, also has a contract with Netflix, which is why movies like Karthik Calling Karthik, Talaash, and Fukrey are available.
