I have many concerns about this movie. As awesome the songs are, and I love seeing Madhuri Dixit on screen again, (she’s in a ‘item-song’ with Ranbir) I have concerns.

I hate Ranbir doing another seemingly mindless rom-com after the brilliant performances he’s given recently.

I’m worried about Kalki going mainstream and ending up doing only supporting roles, like this seems to be.

I feel this movie was casted in order to capitalize on the previous real life relationship of Ranbir – Deepika. Especially considering there’s a line in the trailer of Deepika going ‘If I spend another minute with you, I’ll fall in love with you… again.’
    Ugh.

I’m not as concerned about this movie as you are, Shahid, if only because every actor periodically does movies just because they are guaranteed money makers. Right after winning an Oscar for The Iron Lady, Meryl Streep appeared in Hope Springs, so no one is immune.

Your point about Kalki is more worrisome. While she can probably make more money doing supporting roles in stuff like YJHD and ZNMD, I’m hopeful that her creative desires will still push her to star in art-house fare.

Oh I completely understand. Jamie Foxx did the same, although probably not the best example.

Given Ranbir’s last two heavy hitting films, the guy deserves a light hearted affair. I just feel it’s going to come off as another one of those movies that piss me off. 😐

        Yea Kalki… buck up girl.

Me, too, Anushka. The producers of Bombay Talkies were waiting until after the movie debuted at the Cannes Festival to assign it an international release date. No news yet, but I hope it will be soon.
