This page contains a list of theatrical release dates for Hindi films that I believe are likely to open in the United States and Canada. Not all of the Hindi movies that release into Indian theaters make the journey overseas, and certain stars, directors, and studios are more likely than others to have their movies released in North America. My primary source for release dates is the complete list of Hindi movies set for release in India maintained by Bollywood Hungama. All the dates are subject to change. (Updated April 22, 2024)

Kathy, When is SRK’s film Fan due out? Have they said?
Nothing official at the moment, Melanie. Fan was supposed to come out on August 14 to coincide with India’s Independence Day, but that doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. Salman has claimed both Eid (in July) and Diwali (in November) this year, and then SRK has another film scheduled for release on Christmas, so key dates for the rest of the year are pretty thin. This all assumes that Fan is actually near completion. One option would be to wait and see how Ranbir’s Bombay Velvet does in a couple of weeks. If it doesn’t do well — indicating that perhaps Ranbir isn’t the star he once was — Fan could compete with Ranbir’s Jagga Jasoos during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend here in the US.

Tamasha was supposed to release on Christmas this year, but it got pushed back to 2016. They haven’t set a date yet.

It’s going to be fun to watch, Sanjay! There are few surer bets than an Aamir Khan Christmas release, so my money’s on him.

why do you call Randeep Hooda your boy ?
“My boy” is slang for a close male friend. Obviously, I don’t know Randeep Hooda personally, so it’s just a way of expressing my fondness for him as an actor. It’s also kind of a shout out to Shah Shahid at Blank Page Beatdown, since that’s how we always refer to Randeep when talking to each other.

why do you say ‘lal sing chaddha’ is going to be unbearable. Remake of Forrest Gump
The problems with “Forrest Gump” — it’s sexist, racist, and ableist, among other things — are built into the story and probably aren’t fixable with a remake.
Interesting I never saw it that way. This could be because this was one of the first movies I watched after immigrating to USA in 1994. Its my favorite movie 🙂
And it won multiple Oscars, too! We’ll see how Aamir’s version adapts the story for India.
