Hi, everyone! This is Kathy Gibson, owner and writer here at Access Bollywood. I just wanted to share that I’m going to take a break for a couple of weeks. I realized that I haven’t taken even a week off from this site in years, and I need to recharge.
I’ll return briefly on April 1st (or 2nd, because of the Easter holiday) to update my pages with all the new additions to Netflix and Amazon Prime. But I won’t be posting any reviews, box office analyses, or theater updates until I’m fully back. In the meantime, you can check my list of upcoming releases to see which Hindi movies are likely to open in theaters in the United States in the next few weeks.
Thanks to all the loyal Access Bollywood readers, and to those new to the site thanks to this article about non-Desi Bollywood reviewers that ran in The Hindu on March 25 (featuring a big ole photo of your truly!).

Great site, especially your updates on what’s on (or off) Netflix. Finding legal ways to watch Hindi movies is challenging. I wonder if you are aware of [redacted by website owner]. They claim their site is legal, and it takes a small fee to get ‘lifetime’ ad-free viewing of movies.
Thanks, MVP! The site you mentioned isn’t legal. I removed the name from your comment because I don’t want to inadvertently drive any more traffic to that site. Studios are constantly battling to pull their movies from that site, after the films were posted without permission or payment to the studios. If a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is (at least in this case).
Thanks for the info! So as far as you know, are Amazon and Netflix the only legal sites for viewing new releases? It seems like a market begging for some competition, even if it is ‘pay-per-view’.
Amazon and Netflix get new releases the quickest, but there are other options. The film studio Eros runs its own service — Eros Now — and they keep exclusive streaming rights to some of the movies they make, like Shubh Mangal Saavdhan and Munna Michael, for example. The Indian streaming service Hotstar entered the US market several months ago, and they have a few exclusive titles as well. There’s another service called Spuul that runs on a combination of subscription and pay-per-view, and they get some of the big films but also smaller movies that didn’t release in theaters internationally. They’re really affordable, and their customer service is great. There’s also BigFlix, but the don’t have as many new movies and they don’t have English subtitles (which is a problem for me).
The nice thing about Eros Now, Hotstar, and Spuul is that they are all slightly cheaper than Netflix and Amazon Prime, and all offer a free trial for a week. You might want to do what I do and just subscribe for a month here and there if there’s ever something available through one of those services that isn’t available elsewhere. It’s a lot to keep track of, but it’s nice to have options!
